Laser Marking of PET Bottles – High Speed Without Risk of Damage
Laser marking of PET bottles and packaging films has its own characteristics, which limit the application of standard laser coders.
This is due to the characteristics of the absorption of the PET material surface by the laser beam with a wavelength of 10.6 microns used in most CO2 lasers. In this case, melting and burning of the material occurs with the formation of grooves, which requires more energy consumption and reduces the strength of the bottle wall.
For such tasks, Solaris has developed the e-SolarMark Light laser coder. This model uses a special laser tube with a beam wavelength of 9.4 microns, which foams the thinnest layer of material, changing its optical properties. Thus, contrast lettering is obtained with minimal laser beam power.
In addition, higher marking speed is ensured compared to conventional coders.
In addition to the standard version, the e-SolarMark HD Light model with IP65 protection is available for operation in heavily dusty and humid environments.
