Printing with simultaneous label application – “2 in 1” systems
One of the advantages of using self-adhesive labels in production is the ability to automate the process of applying them to a wide variety of products and packaging: cardboard boxes, plastic containers, bags, bottles.
The next step was to combine a thermal transfer printer and a self-adhesive label applicator in one device.
Installing a thermal transfer printing module on the applicator allows you to instantly change messages on the label when switching from product to product, print a unique barcode, serial number on each unit of the product.
Labeling can occur both on a moving product and at the moment of its stop.
Types of label application to the product
- direct transfer. The label separates from the backing on the dispenser and is immediately applied to the product. Used only in motion.
- contact pneumatic transfer (touch on). The label is printed and fed to a special vacuum plate with a pneumatic rod. The label is held on the plate until the rod presses it against the product. Only for a stationary product.
- non-contact pneumatic transfer (blow on). The same as the previous method, but the label is “blown” with compressed air from a distance of 10-15 mm onto the product. Works on both stationary and moving products. At the same time, the product can be fragile, move at a very high speed, have an uneven surface.
Separately, there are print & apply systems for printing and applying large-format barcode labels on transport packaging – pallets according to the GS1 standard.
